Athens: equally charming on all seasons

Greece is known as a top summer destination and most tourists prefer that season for making their visit. The idyllic islands with the golden beaches and the crystal blue waters, the rich nightlife and the opportunity to explore Greece's historical monuments are some of the reasons why this happens. But what would you say if we were to offer you as many interesting things as you can do in Athens during the winter?

Winter is ideal for budget travellers. Everything, from flight tickets, hotel prices and museum visits, is cheaper this time of the year. In addition to that, places are less crowded and you can easily walk around and explore the sights with less hectiness. Visit the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum. Fewer people means better viewing. Take your time, find the ideal spot for taking your photos and create longlasting memories. Don't forget to visit Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center and, of course, the changing of the guards in front of the Presidential Mansion on every one hour.

Athens, apart from a cultural and historic center is a cosmopolitan metropolis with urban personality. What greeks love most is going out and having fun and that's what you should do while being here. Get lost in the scenic neighborhoods of Plaka, relax and enjoy a coffee or lunch in one of the many places you'll find there. At the city's center you'll find many bars and restaurants with rooftops, offering amazing views to the Acropolis and the Athenian skyline.

For sports and adventure enthusiasts, Athens is a great idea as well. From hiking in Hymettus or Lycabettus hill to skiing only a few hours away, in Mt. Parnassos ski resort, there are many things to do. If the bugdet allows it, why not try the thrilling experience of skydiving?
